He-162A-2 Salamander (1/48 Tamiya)

Latest addition to my collection is this tiny He-162A-2 Salamander from Tamiya. I used some additional details, Aires cockpit and wheelbays replaced the kit parts and some photoetched parts from Eduard were also used. 

A lot of extra work went into engine detailing, Lead wires and Albion alloys brass tubes were used to enhance the beautiful BMW-002 jet engine. Model was painted with MRP Paints and subtile weathered with Ammo weathering products. Engine latches came from Yahu models. Luftwaffe Pilot figure is from Aerobonus range.

 

Me-262 A-1A Schwalbe (Tamiya 1/48)

In my opinion one of the top 5 scale models to be build. The quality of the kit is just fantastic, but that didn't stop me not to use full Aires detail set (#4222). Aeromaster decals were used to depict me-262 of Jg.7 at Prague Ruzyne airfield in 1945. This model won Gold in Master category at Moson model competition in 2014.

Fokker E.V (Eduard 1/48)

I built this little gem as a part of group build with two  of my modelling mates - we built a trio of Jasta 3. Fokkers with different markings.  This Eduards Fokker D.V was built out of the box,  Sadly, it is hard to get by these days as it is no longer produced.

Down for Double - P-51D Mustang

I built this one about 8 years ago for a friend. Classic but still fantastic Tamiya kit in 48th scale. So great actually that some of the parts aren't even glued together. Basic Eduard zoom PE set and quickboost exhausts are the only aftermarket used. Oh, and Aeromaster decals... This was more or less a study in natural metal finishes using Alclad paints. Still one of my favourite builds... 

Revell Avro Lancaster in 1/72

My venture to the 1/72 scale as this one in 48th scale just wouldn't fit in my display cabinet. Major downside of Revell kit is the lack of wing dihedral (but that's an easy fix) and strange looking radiator intakes (which were remodelled and casted in resin). Quickboost gun barrels, Brassin wheels and Eduard masks were used on this build, landing flaps are scratchbuilt from styrene, Painted with Gunze paints, decals came from Kitsworld.

Westland Wessex UH.5 (Italeri 1/48)

Well, nobody does it better than Arnie, but Italeri didn't do it badly either. Westland Wessex UH.5 was a real fun to build, I did use some aftermarket parts, complete Eduard Photo etched set and Scalewarship Wessex blade fold were used to enhance this nice kit. The only downside of this kit are decals. Nice and thin, but pretty badly printed - and misspelled... Oh, and please disregard that piece of foam in the exhausts - i didn't realize that you can actually see through them when model is completed. A study in NMF - P-38 Lightning

I don’t know why, but I like to build a model with interesting markings flown by unknown pilot. Beautiful aircraft deserves a beautiful lady, so Vivacios Virgin II, flown by Ian B. Mackenzie  in Belgium in  1944 was my choice. Decals came from Kagero topcolors book. I can't remember exactly how many different shades of Alclad paints were used on this one, but I am more than satisfied with the end result. Although Hasegawa's lightning is pretty old kit, it was pleasurable build. 

We have to start somewhere.

Just to place something on this blog I was thinking about for a lon long time. Hopefully this blog will get filled with some nice finished models, WIP-s, reviews, photos form competitons, museums and occasional tutorial. So, for starters, Me-163 Komet from Revell.
